firefox downloaded, installed and first hack done
After waiting maybe 4 hours after launch, managed to get a download of firefox 3. I never installed any of the previous release canditates and went straight for the final. It appears much faster. The big thing I'm intrested to see is how much memory it takes over a long term. My firefox can often run for days at home and up with a 400mb plus footprint.
Things I dont like at the moment - there seem to be warning messages everywhere.
If I go to an SSL site, with an invalid certificate (I'm a web admin - how often do you think i do this) you get big warnings if you really want to do this? I just want you to do what I want
And finally my biggest pet hate so far.. the bar where you type your url, is now a search bar of your book marks and your browsing history. Sorry, I dont want my bookmarks displayed to me while I type, or my history neither. Luckily after some digging, I have found the values to change in about:config
browser.urlbar.matchOnlyTyped;true (was false)
browser.urlbar.maxRichResults;0 (was 12)
browser.urlbar.search.chunkSize;0 (was 1000)
Of course, you get a warning before you get to about:config - "Here be dragons!"
now I know 99% of the worlds interweb losers are not so internet savy, but do I really have to put up with all this mollycoddling?
