rockband for the iphone

Tuesday, October 20. 2009
A big fan of Guitar Hero on the ps3, EA have brought rock band to the iphone - it rocks! A lot of fun playing it, much to bemused onlookers on the U5. Skill? Talent? not a chance - but a lot of fun.

Shame theres no euphonium iphone app - anyone wanna develop one, imagine pressing down on the screen as if it was the 4 valves? But where would you blow?

step 4 - mission iphone

Tuesday, September 29. 2009
(sorry its been a while since I've blogged work, oktoberfest, lots more work)

Anyway. Mission accomplished. Got my iphone yesterday. Transferred 20gb of music and started adding some apps

Tweetdeck, Facebook, Cleartune, Metronome and my personal favourite iYodl (a bavarian guy loaded with 10 handy bavarian phrases!)

Its gonna take me some time to get used to it from the old nokia n95, but I'm looking forward to it.

step 3 - mission iphone

Wednesday, August 26. 2009
Ok, so step 3 has been done. Was at the telekom store saturday and signed my contract. Its a shame that o2 wont let me out earlier.

The change of numbers is due to happen on the middle oktoberfest sunday(27.09) - which is gonna be a nightmare. So I'll wait until monday morning for everything to get done and get myself a temporay sim card for the weekend. I dont want any more stress on the middle sunday.

step 2 - mission iphone

Friday, July 17. 2009
So I got my cancellation letter from o2, they wrote asking me to reconsider and offered me a cheap deal on a nokia. My contract runs out in mid september. If I didnt want to take my number with me, they would let me leave now (assuming i paid up until mid sep) - but as I like my number I'm gonna have to wait it out.

some highlights of the past 14 days

Wednesday, July 16. 2008
Well, I was in London. I got to see AvenueQ. I've had the soundtrack for ages thanks to Helen, and wanted to see it for a while. Its not really appropriate for young children. Just think adult version of the muppets or sesame street. I got to eat breakfast standing in the middle of the Millenium Bridge on the Thames, just watching the world go buy. Caught up with Kirk for Thai dinner somewhere near CharringCross.

Went to Jeans July 4th party, which was fab. Was great to see a lot of old friends, and meet some new canadians. Theres nothing like starting a discussion about hockey night in canada and then leaving the room. They were still at it 20 minutes later when I stuck my head around the door.

I bought some PG Tips(to replenish supplies), with a Monkey teatowel in each box. Got a few new tshirts and did a massive shopin boots. Had to laugh, I took jeans boots card. After sticking all the points on it, the assistant offered me a voucher for 2 quid off hair care products - like I really need hair care products. I gave the voucher to jean. I should know better from some of my office work about "ticket at till", borrowing other peoples cards and inheriting their shopping profile.

Spent sunday afternoon watching the Julie the drag queen at Molly moggs with Helen and crew.

Got back to munich Monday, and my PC has started making funny noises.

Life in the office is back to full on stress (hence the lack of blogging)

In the mean time, the daily mail think they have found banksy - Graffiti artist Bansky unmasked, the BBC say maybe not - Paper 'reveals Banksy's identity'. One of the new sites I've got in my Live Bookmarks is WebUrbanist. They started an 8 parter today - Who is Banksy?, but what caught my eye before that was their article about Geek Art.

EHC München have announced their opening games in the pokal (the cup) against Ingolstadt and Straubing.

Toytown is still being toytown

Spent saturday taking some pics in teh rain around munich at CSD. Jurgen and Co and their lorry in the procession.

And thats it I think. In between the work, I'm trying to work out what to do with my PC. Its 3 years old now, and getting ready for the big PC space in the sky (after I take a big drill to the hard disk). I'm tempted to go with an imac, comparing for what I can get from Dell etc for the same money. Hmm its very tempting.

oh one last thing. the iphone 3G has launched here on tmobile. I'm stuck in a contract with o2 until July 2009.

and finally... the new iphone

Tuesday, June 10. 2008
As I've said previously, I'd quite like an iphone, but please mr jobs, give us a 3g version.

So yesterday, Mr Jobs did just that - BBC News - Apple launches cheaper 3g iphone. The specs look good, umts, gps, wlan blah blah blah. Oh and a 16gb version and all for $299! Wow, with the exchange rates atm - thats only €200!

Now the question is will I be able to get my hands on one of them? A german mobile contract is for 2 years. I've got another year to run on mine. The exlusive partner in germany for iphones is tmobile, my current contract is with o2. So heres where I rant.. Why are german phone contracts 2 years, whereas the uk they are normally only the one? Why is the iphone being launched exlusively only on one network and not all networks?

Most friends who have existing gprs iphones, bought them in the US where you buy the phone and are left to sign up for the contract by yourself. You've gotta love AT&T for being that stupid. The big question is, will they be that stupid again?

p.s. if anyone is going to the US and AT&T are being that stupid, you wanna bring one back for me?

Monday, March 10. 2008
So the lovely people at apple on friday announced the arrival of enterprise support (email push etc) and their software development kit for the iphone. So, what does that mean for me? Well still I aint getting one. I'm waiting for the UMTS version as are lots of poeple. Rumours are it might be launched May 2008 - and even then, I want the office to pay for my data bill
