feb is sport time!

Feb is gonna be a great month for sport

a) The winter olympics. The bbc coverage is usually great - although the time zones could hamper a lot a live viewing. Their trailer is great

b) Then you have the 6 nations rugby. Always a great excuse for some sport. Will be at England v Wales in Twickenham

The Welsh team is being named Sunday evening.... who will be in, who will be out.

3 strikes and out

Wednesday, August 13. 2008
this blog has been pretty much an olympic free zone for a while. I recorded the opening ceremony and watched it back friday night. It was pretty spectacular. Then slowly things have been appearing in the press

1) Some of the fireworks were 3d animations - this was pretty obvious, they were too perfect. The sky was too dark, there was no smoke from the existing fireworks

2) The little girl who sang actually mimed - yep. It was like an 80's edition of top of the pops. Again very obvious.

and finally

3) The Blue Screen of Death - I didnt spot this until I read gizmodo today. On the roof of the olympic server a great windows blue screen of death. There photos from loads of angles, this cant be a fake.

The opening ceremony has some credibilty, up until the 3rd thing happened :-) Bring on 2012 in london ;-)

hockey day #5 - wot no medal?

Monday, April 21. 2008
GB played well, but with a referee who was intent on being the main event, and a netminder from Kazakhstan there wasnt much hope of getting through. GB lost the game and with it the chance of getting a medal. The competition finished with Austria beating Poland to take them back up to the main group next year.

BBC Sport - Kazakhstan force GB out of medals
GBSC - Heroic GB fall short

Graham from GBSC has worked out the new groups (before the IIHF get done with their meddling)

1. Last placed team from the elite division
2. Ukraine
3. Poland
4. Great Britain
5. The Netherlands
6. Romania

(from GBSC - Next Year's Senior Group)

As well as that theres olympic qualifiers to look forward to in November, and maybe the GBSC 15th Anniversary game.
